Texas A&M Is Expected to Hire Auburn’s Secondary Defensive Coach.
Auburn concluded the season with a 6-7 record after falling to Maryland 31-13 in the Music City Bowl. Auburn is said to be parting ways with one of their defensive staff members. Wesley McGriff, Auburn’s secondary and cornerbacks coach, is slated to resign after just one season. McGriff is set to join Texas A&M’s coaching staff under Mike Elko. He is now in his third year at Auburn, having previously served in 2016, 2019 and 2020.
McGriff will work with Ishmael Aristide, who just took over as cornerbacks coach at Texas A&M. Aristide’s history with Elko extends back to his tenure as a Duke assistant coach before going on to Texas A&M. If the Sunday charges are true, this move will add to McGriff’s extensive teaching expertise.
