American rapper Melvin Vernell III went under the alias Lil Phat. Vernell, a Louisiana native born in Baton Rouge, began rapping when he was a small child and was signed to Trill Entertainment in 2007 at the age of 14.
Lil is well known for his contribution to Webbie’s smash tune “Independent.” He appeared in multiple Trill Entertainment movies before his untimely demise at the age of 19.
The shooter, Deandre Washington, 25, was handed a life sentence plus 20 years in jail on Friday after being convicted guilty of murder and other charges, the prosecution claims.

On June 7, 2012, Vernell was shot and killed while awaiting the birth of his daughter at Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Two suspects were reportedly observed fleeing the murder site by witnesses. Three people were convicted guilty of the murder in August 2014.
Related allegations made by the fourth defendant, Mani Chulpayev, were dropped. Melvin Vernell III was shot and killed in June 2012 outside a hospital where the rapper was waiting for the birth of his kid.

3 Found Guilty in Georgia Rapper Lil Phat’s Death
On Friday, a 25-year-old man was convicted guilty of killing Melvin Vernell III, a 19-year-old local rapper known as “Lil Phat,” in June 2012. Two other guys were also found guilty as a result of their participation in the case.
Deandre Washington was found guilty in a Fulton County court of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to conduct a crime, involvement in a criminal street gang, and firearms violations after a trial that lasted over a month.
He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 20 years after the judgment, according to a news statement from the office of Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard.
Details about Lil Phat’s Early Life
Lil Phat was born and reared in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the home of his parents. We made an effort to find out more about his family, but we were unsuccessful since no one in the public could provide us with such information.

Rapper Lil Phat was only beginning his career when he died. He joined Trill Entertainment together with other hip-hop singers including Lil Boosie and Webbie.
Washington shot him many times when he was murdered, while he was just 19 years old. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native made an appearance on Webbie’s well-known song “Independent.”
On the Hot 100 list for 2008, the song rose to number nine. After learning of Phat’s death, Webbie sent his condolences on Twitter: “RIP to my Lil brother Phat! Life is so crazy! TRILL4LIFE.”
