The shooter at MSU was revealed to be Anthony McRae, a resident of Lansing, Michigan, and a Delaware native. His father said he was “evil and angry” ever since his mother passed away in 2020, and he was said to be unemployed. McRae struggled to keep a job. He used to load refrigerators into trucks at a warehouse, but he wasn’t working at the time of the incident.

His sister said that he was homeless and was living alone at their father’s house in Lansing. After his mother passed away in 2020, McRae was reportedly irascible and abusive. He was previously detained by a Lansing police officer in June 2019 for carrying an unlicensed loaded Ruger LCP.380 semi-automatic pistol.

He admitted guilt for unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and was sentenced to a year of probation as payment. In May 2021, Anthony received his probationary period’s end.
