Congratulations, Jai Singh Puni. A man accused of murdering his wife died in a Birmingham hospital before his trial on January 22. On Monday, he was expected to enter a plea in the stabbing murder of Sukhjeet Uppal, which was found at their Tangmere Road home in Wolverhampton.
According to the findings of an inquest held on Thursday at Birmingham Coroner’s Court, Mr. Puni died as a consequence of brain injury, multiple organ failure, and cardiac arrest caused by suffocation.
The findings of a complete inquest are due in February 2023, and the Prison and Probation Ombudsman confirmed that he was investigating the man’s death. Mr. Puni has been in police custody since his arrest in September. Prior to his death in detention, Jai Singh, who was on trial for allegedly murdering his wife, was “hearing voices and diagnosed as schizophrenic,” according to a previous inquest.
Unfortunately, not much information on Jai Singh was discovered, and he always avoided the limelight. Similarly, the police have not divulged anything about the case since it is still under investigation at the time of writing this story.
Who Was Sukhjeet Uppal, Jai Singh’s Wife?
Sukhjeet Uppal, Jai Singh’s wife, was brutally stabbed in their home, prompting Singh’s arrest. He was arrested when Ms. Uppal was found with several stab wounds in their shared house. Ms. Uppal was recalled by her family as an adored mother and “one of the most caring and loving people you could ever meet.”
According to the claims, she never nursed resentments and loved everyone. Her brothers, mother, and children were removed from her. Unfortunately, little information on Jai Singh’s wife, Sukhjeet, was discovered since she had not divulged much about herself while she was still with us.
Jai Singh: Murder Charged Husband
The inquest into the death of a murder suspect who died in police custody concludes on March 8. An eight-day inquiry into the death of Jai Singh Puni, who was suspected of murdering his 40-year-old wife, Sukhjeet Uppal, has been called.
On January 27, 2022, the 50-year-old was found in his cell with something covering his head; he died soon after midnight the next day at City Hospital. According to a post-mortem, Singh suffered several organ failures, brain damage, and a cardiac arrest caused by suffocation.
Singh was imprisoned after being accused of murdering his wife, Sukhjeet Uppal, at their Tangmere Road, Wolverhampton, home on September 19, 2021, Sunday. She died right then and there.
On the first day, the jury was given a summary of the case by local coroner Emma Brown, who said that there were “no concerns about Singh’s physical or mental health” at the time of his first admittance to jail.
She stated, however, that his activities had “changed drastically” and that his family had voiced their concerns to the institution. Singh’s sister, Paramjit Khaira, phoned the prison 85 times to express her worries about her brother’s mental health. Birmingham and Solihull Coroner’s Court in Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham, is hosting the investigation.
