On Sunday, July 2, 2022, Stephanie Elliott, a 52-year-old Morgan County clerk, lost her life in an automobile accident.
Stephanie was born on May 20, 1970, in Bloomington, Indiana, according to her Legacy profile.
Michael Scott and Pamela Kay have three children in total, Elliott being the eldest.
After graduating from Martinsville High School in 1988, Stephanie has lived in Martinsville her entire life.
Ball State University and Indiana University awarded her college degrees.
Stephanie managed the family childcare while working as a customer service agent. She used to support her husband’s Elliott Electric company as well.
Stephanie, the wife of John Elliott, began working in the clerk’s office in February 2009 and eventually rose to the position of interim clerk before being appointed full-time county clerk in November 2014.
Elliott was just nominated by the Republicans for Morgan County Auditor in the November 2022 General Election. Elliott was re-elected as the County Clerk in November 2018.

John Elliott was taken into custody and accused of killing his wife in a car crash that claimed both lives earlier this year.
Elliott was operating the white pickup truck on July 2, 2022, while his wife Stephanie was seated in the passenger’s seat.
The truck veered off the road and onto State Road 67’s eastbound side, slamming into the embankment and colliding with multiple trees.
While John was flown by a Lifeline helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital, Stephanie Elliott was declared dead at the spot.
Later on, it was shown that Stephanie was not wearing a seat belt whereas John was.
Moments before the collision, the pickup truck changed from a four-lane to a two-lane route, according to an affidavit submitted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
After hitting an embankment and rising about ten feet into the air, the truck crashed into a number of trees and branches and continued for another thirty feet before coming to rest against a tree.
According to Indiana State Lab toxicology findings, John’s blood alcohol concentration was 06.
The night of the crash, he also had cannabinoids and cocaine in his system.
