Quantavious Grier, also known as Young Thug’s brother Unfoonk, was imprisoned on May 4, 2023, after pleading guilty in a high-profile RICO case.
He’s been charged with illegal possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a firearm by someone employed by or associated with a violent street gang. Grier was apprehended at a traffic stop at 4 p.m. when the smell of smoked marijuana emanated from the car, according to Atlanta Police.
When police officers searched the car, they discovered a firearm. Grier’s predicament was exacerbated when tint was discovered on the vehicle’s windows and he failed to wear his seatbelt while driving. Grier’s bail was not accepted when he was hauled to court, but he is scheduled to appear in court again, though no specific date has been set. The arrest could jeopardize the plea agreement he accepted in December of last year.
Unfoonk entered a guilty plea to violating the RICO Act. Unfoonk admitted to one count of RICO Act violation and one count of theft by receiving stolen goods in December 2022. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 10 years on probation, according to the plea agreement.
According to the terms of his probation, he was not allowed to contact Young Thug or the other defendants until the case was resolved. Unfoonk was also sentenced to 750 hours of community service and a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. He was also barred from possessing a firearm.
Unfoonk also revealed during an Instagram Live session that the agreement limited the terms he could use in his song. He was accused of snitching on his brother while accepting his plea agreement, but he refuted the claims in his Instagram Story, writing:
“Damn people think I lied to them about my own brother smh.” I’m not even going to consider any of that, peace and blessings.”
According to court filings, Unfoonk was required to testify if the RICO case’s parties contacted him.
