For him and his mother to have a place to stay when Liverpool hosts the Eurovision, actor Will Ferrell has encouraged anyone in the city with a “clean, tidy room” going spare to get in touch.
The comedic actor, who played the song contest in a 2020 movie, told BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball that his mum was incredibly eager to attend the event in May 2023.
He said that the hotels were “fully booked now,” putting that in doubt. We just need two bunk beds, so we’ll share a room with them, he added.
The 2022 competition was won by the Ukrainian Kalush Orchestra, however owing to the ongoing conflict in their nation, the 2023 competition was transferred to the United Kingdom.
After Liverpool’s selection as the host city was made public in October, there was a mad rush to book hotels in the area. When some rooms were listed for up to £8,000 per night, the local mayor stepped forward to stop the practice.
The Elf and Anchorman actor claimed on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show that his mum had always wanted to attend Eurovision and travel to the host city.
He stated,
“I really want to take my mum to Eurovision.”
She has always wanted to see Liverpool, so she is bursting to get there.
Ball inquired about the 2020 movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, in which he portrayed Icelandic singer Lars Erickssong, and that brought up the subject.
Ball made a personal appeal on his behalf, requesting contact from anyone “prepared to put up Will Ferrell and his parents in Liverpool or the Liverpool region for Eurovision.”
Ferrell remarked, “We just need a clean, organized area.
We just need two bunk beds, so we’ll share a room with them.
Even though he understood they were joking, he said, “my mama would adore that.”
He said, “She would be thrilled.
The Eurovision semi-finals and final will both be held at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on May 9 and 11, 2023.
