Wynonna is the sole stage name under which she performs and by which her solo albums and singles are recognized.

Christina Claire Ciminella delivered Wynonna in Ashland, Kentucky, on May 30, 1964. Naomi Judd wed Michael Ciminella shortly after her ex-boyfriend and Judd’s biological father, Charles Jordan, left her. In 2000, Jordan passed away.
The daughter of Naomi Judd and Michael Ciminella is named Ashley. The parents and couple moved to Los Angeles in 1968, accompanied by their two daughters. However, their union had ended by 1972.
1976 saw the return of Naomi Judd to Kentucky with her daughters. Wynnona was motivated to study the guitar by her mother’s passion for country music.
To accommodate Naomi and Wynnona’s continued musical pursuits, the Naomi and Wynnona family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1979.
At that location, Christina’s mother underwent a lawful name change from Diana to Naomi. Christina was also inspired to adopt the stage name “Wynonna” after hearing the song “Route 66,” in which she alluded to the Arizona town of Winona.
