Robert Varie was a suspected drug dealer who passed away on Wednesday after the Sizok’thola squad investigated a house in Katlehong.
Xolani Khumalo was allegedly taken into custody by the South African police as a result. However, the formal word of his arrest has not yet made its way online.
An inquiry is reportedly underway concerning the death of a suspected drug dealer during the filming of a Sizok’thola episode, according to Moja Love.
Presenter Xolani Khumalo is accompanied by police officers when he raids the homes and establishments of suspected drug dealers in the documentary “Sizok’thola,” which means “We’ll get you.”
The crew visited a home in Katlehong on Wednesday, following which the suspected drug dealer, Robert Varrie, passed suddenly.
“The channel is still investigating the circumstances that allegedly required the deceased to be rushed to the hospital, even though the crew can confirm that the deceased was being questioned close to the premises.”
This is the case, according to a statement released by Moja Love on Sunday.
The squad conducted the raid with law enforcement personnel present, and all actions taken on that day were compliant with the law, the station reported.
The station claims that after it is determined that the suspects are drug dealers, they are turned over to the police so they may carry out further investigations and make arrests.
The Xolani Khumalo Scandal and Controversy
Following her association with the passing of Robert “Kicks” Varrie, a man suspected of being a drug dealer, Xolani Khumalo has become the subject of criticism.
On a Wednesday during a house visit in Katlehong, members of Moja Love’s team witnessed the incident that resulted in Varrie’s death.
It was during this visit that Robert, the suspected drug dealer, was being questioned by the team when he passed dead.
The details of the interview and the events leading up to his demise are still unknown, thus the channel Moja Love is currently investigating them.
In a statement released to the public on Sunday, Moja Love confirmed that its staff had been near the interrogation site.
They made it plain that everything they did that day was legitimate and that they were joined in the raid by members of the law enforcement community.
According to Moja Love, those who are found to be drug traffickers are given over to the police so that they can conduct additional inquiries and possibly make an arrest.
They have said that they are ready to support law authorities in any inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Robert Varrie’s death.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of Varrie’s death and the extent of Xolani Khumalo’s participation.
