Injury to Zach Ertz: What Happened to Him? health report

The health of tight end Zach Ertz has been good news for the Arizona Cardinals. Ertz signed a three-year contract with the Cardinals in March of 2021 after being acquired by them from the Philadelphia Eagles. However, in Week 10 of the 2022 NFL season, Ertz suffered a severe knee injury.

Ertz suffered an ACL and MCL tear, which typically heals in about a year. Ertz has been fully cleared to resume football exercise, it was announced on Monday. According to a source, “Zach Ertz of the #AZCardinals has been cleared for full football activity and is on track to start Week 1 almost nine months after tearing his ACL and MCL.”

The three-time Pro Bowler was on track for 86 receptions, 745 yards, and eight touchdowns before suffering a knee injury in Week 10. Zach Ertz being able to play in Week 1 after receiving the all-clear is a significant lift for the Arizona Cardinals offense, which desperately needs it. Ertz has been vocal about wanting to play in Week 1 ever since his injury and during the offseason. He disclosed the following to reporters:

The objective is to always show up for Week 1. At the same time, I’ll be myself when I’m out there. If I’m just 80 percent, I won’t start the game early and put the team at risk. For this business to succeed, I must perform at my highest level, therefore that’s what I’m focusing on.

Zach Ertz Contributes Significantly to the Offense of the Cardinals

Zach Ertz has been an important part of Arizona’s offense ever since the team traded for him. Ertz played in 11 games for the Cardinals following his trade from the Eagles, hauling in 56 passes for 574 yards and three touchdowns.

The Season Opening for the Cardinals is in Washington

On September 10th, the Arizona Cardinals will play their opening game of the 2023 season against the Washington Commanders. Although Kyler Murray, the Cardinals’ regular quarterback, will be absent due to a knee injury, Ertz will be back in the lineup for that game. The return of Ertz is important for the Cardinals’ offense despite the fact that they are predicted to be among the weaker teams in the 2023 NFL season.
