Sharon Baker Cosby is Zeph Baker’s wife. The couple lived as husband and wife until issues emerged, resulting in their divorce. During the press conference, the former mayor candidate addressed claims that a court judgment had separated him from Zeph Baker’s wife owing to domestic abuse.
In 2016, a judge in Coweta County Superior Court granted Zeph Baker’s wife a temporary protection order after Sharon expressed concern about being alone in their home with him following incidences of domestic abuse. The candidate’s spouse alleges that their marriage is irrevocably damaged in a document presented on April 17, 2018.
On April 20, a private process server filed divorce papers on Baker at his Lantana Way residence, according to S. Mark Mitchell. Baker filed for divorce on January 3, 2017, but the case was later dismissed. Sharon Baker Cosby first requested that the court compel her husband to stay at least 500 yards away from her, participate in a batterer’s intervention program, and evict him from the family home at 40 Lantana Way in Newnan, Georgia, according to Coweta County court documents.
In a court complaint filed more than two years ago, Cosby’s wife claimed that Baker committed the following acts of domestic violence against her and the younger children on or around March 29, 2016. When Zeph Baker’s wife returned home from work, he had her stay and speak, wouldn’t let her get up to fetch her phone, grabbed her and obstructed her as she tried to run for safety, prevented her from dialing for help, and held her down on the couch in front of two young children.
Zeph Baker Has Been Arrested And Charged
According to officials, Zeph, a formerly well-known candidate who ran for office in Georgia, was caught on Saturday and is now facing many criminal charges outside of Cobb County. Zephaniah Baker, a former candidate for mayor of Columbus, Georgia, who had previously run for office many times, was apprehended by Muscogee County deputies.
When a warrant for kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony was issued in Cobb County, the former candidate was jailed. Baker faces two misdemeanor charges as well: third-degree child cruelty and battery (domestic violence).
Baker was apprehended by US Marshals and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug, Gang, and Fugitive Unit soon before 1 a.m. on Saturday. The charges against Baker have not yet been made public. It is uncertain when the former mayor candidate will be extradited to Cobb County from Muscogee County.
