He is the son of Pat Mahomes, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. Following his sophomore year, he gave up baseball to focus solely on his football career, which he intends to pursue in the future. He topped NCAA Division I FBS players in numerous categories during his junior year, including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53).
