By the end of 2022, the location will be abandoned. The Irish Times Group, based in Dublin, and other outside vendors will be hired by Mediahuis to complete projects.

The Belfast Telegraph will start being printed at Interpress in Belfast in January. The Irish News newspaper’s sibling company is Interpress.

The company currently publishes Sunday Life from Mediahuis.

Since 2019, the former Independent News and Media group of publications has been owned by the Belgian media company Mediahuis.

Shortly after assuming control of the group, it closed its printing presses in Dublin and centralized its operations in Newry.

The business attributed the closure of the Newry factory to declining newspaper sales and growing costs.

“Our priority is on securing the future of our business by adapting to the changing needs of our industry,” said a statement that was delivered to the workforce on Tuesday.”

As we continue our transformation to a digitally focused news organization, we must secure a future sustainable publication model.”

The Fingal Independent newspaper, which serves north County Dublin, was also shut down by the corporation as a result of declining sales.
