On August 19, Glow Up Season 4 will premiere. Ten aspiring MUAs from throughout the UK will participate in the competition, while MUA industry veterans Val Garland and Dominic Skinner will judge their performance.
Both have in-depth industry knowledge and are eager to provide their wisdom on the upcoming performance. The event will be hosted by television personality Maya Jama.
In the eight-episode series, competitors will compete in beauty challenges to succeed on the show and ultimately win it.
Meet the judges for Glow Up season 4
The judges for the upcoming exhibition are well-known in the MUA industry and are incredibly intelligent. Val Garland is the Global Makeup Director for L’Oréal Paris and a British Vogue Contributing Beauty Editor. Dominic Skinner is a Global Senior Artist for Mac Cosmetics.
Val Garland, a cosmetic artist in London, is 63 years old. Before relocating to Sydney, Australia, to pursue a career as a hair colorist, she was born and reared in Bristol. Her scientific interest in hair, makeup, and color propelled her to the top of Australia’s artists very rapidly.
The Glow Up judge moved to London a few years later to work on high-profile Alexander McQueen catwalk shows, Kate Moss commercial celebrity photos, and magazine collaborations with Vogue, Dazed & Confused, i-D, and Visionaire.
Garland was chosen as the best makeup artist by Pantene Pro-V in 2004. In 2017, she was chosen as the first global makeup director for L’Oréal Paris. The makeup artist has created an anthology exhibiting her work through a selection of famous pictures, proving its validity.
Dominique Skinner
Dominic, a senior global artist for MAC Cosmetics, has been working in the cosmetics business for almost 20 years. His main cosmetics inspiration was the character of Pris played by Daryl Hannah in the film Blade Runner, who had paint all over his eyes.
He continuously exhorts his clients to try out powerful cosmetics. Dominic revealed the sources of his cosmetic inspiration on the MAC website.
Over the years, Skinner has worked with a variety of well-known industry leaders. The Glow Up judge’s most treasured moment during her lengthy tenure at MAC was helping Alex Box with a magazine photo under the direction of Alexander McQueen.
