“NO SPLIT OR STEAL?”: Fans of Love Island UK are disappointed by the cash prize surprise. The show debuted on ITV2 on June 6, 2022, with 36 islanders looking for love.
Fans were eager to see who would be crowned champion and whether they would split or take the money in the finals after eight weeks of eliminations. Given this, the new rule proved to be a letdown for viewers.
Who are the Love Island UK winners, Davide and Ekin-Su?
Both members of the winning duo auditioned for the eighth season of the show with the hopes of finding love. Following a few hiccups, Italian stallion Davide met Turkish delight Ekin-Su, and the two fell in love during the first week of the competition.
They were one of the most formidable opponents on the show. Despite being labeled as the “least compatible pair” by the islanders in one episode, the couple eventually triumphed.
Davide, 27, is a businessman from Rome who now lives in Manchester. He joined the dating program in the hopes of meeting a “soulmate” with whom he could “truly construct something in the future, develop with, and be a family.”
Ekin-Su, 27, is an Essex actress who participated in the show “looking for the love of [her] life.” She was looking for a “serious man” with “knowledge” and “someone who can have excellent discussions,” not just “looks.”
Both were hoping for a committed relationship on the show and found one. Their respective parents approved of their romance after their romantic date. When the couple won the show, they thanked their fans for voting for them and assisting them in winning first place.
