A Look Into William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett Reltionship

American actress Bonnie Bartlett has spoken out about her 72-year marriage to actor William Daniels.

The 93-year-old actress revealed to Fox News Digital during a promotion for her new book, Middle of the Rainbow, that she and Daniels struggled as a couple after marrying in 1951.

“I guess it was an open marriage at first, but it was really difficult. That did not go so well. And it was a time when people did such things. It was at a time in New York when there was a lot of s*x and a lot of people doing all kinds of things – it was extremely free.”

She went on to say that their “lack of commitment” in their marriage was “not healthy.”

“Any violation, any adulterous incident, there was a lot of grief associated with it.”

In 1951, Daniels and Bartlett married. On the same night in 1986, the pair made history by receiving Emmy nominations for their roles in the drama series St. Elsewhere.

William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett are currently residing in a home in southern California. In May 2022, the Boy Meets World actor admitted to Forbes that he “confidently” asked out Bartlett while the two were studying together at Northwestern University.

Since then, they’ve been inseparable. Bonnie Bartlett, according to Fox News Digital, said in her new book that she “never felt bad” about their open marriage because she and William “never felt committed to faithfulness.”

The Golden Girls actress had an affair with a “somewhat dull” actor that “lasted a few months” around 1959. When her husband’s romance with a New York-based producer left her “devastated” in the 1970s, her views on open marriage shifted. Following that, Bartlett stated that she “could no longer accept any form of open marriage.”

Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels worked “day by day” to repair their broken marriage.

“It was a very unpleasant experience for both of us. But we had to go through it because we had never done it before.”

According to Bartlett, as they grew up and matured together, the two were able to repair their friendship.

“It was something we had to go through because we hadn’t done it before. We first met when I was 18 years old. My first love was Bill… We simply had to go through it all, but we still deeply loved each other and always have.”

In addition, she stated:

“[We] have always been there for one another. That’s what matters: being there for the individual and assisting [them] in their relationship, respecting them and what they’re doing, and being there for them… [You must be] on the opposite side of the street.”

Michael and Robert are the names of Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels’ two children. The former was born in 1964 and works as an assistant director and stage manager in Los Angeles. Robert, who was born in 1966, is a computer graphics designer in New York.
