While Mars will remain a member of the band, he is unable to tour due to his illness. Meanwhile, Nikki Sixx, the bassist for Motley Crue, has stated that John 5 will complement the other band members flawlessly. He stated that it is someone they know and like because they have worked together in the past.

In response to a Twitter query from a fan about why they chose John 5, Sixx stated:

“He checks all the boxes. He is an insane competitor. Has respect for our music, is amusing, and has a history with us, having co-written a number of extremely popular singles.”

In 2023, Motley Crue and Def Leppard are scheduled to tour together.

John 5 has collaborated with the band Motley Crue

Sixx has previously collaborated with Motley Crue on three of their original tracks featured in the upcoming biopic The Dirt. These songs include The Dirt (Est. 1981), Ride With the Devil, and Crash and Burn.

They also collaborated with American singer-songwriter Desmond Child on the title track of Meat Loaf’s 2006 album Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose.

John 5 was the guitarist for Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie

John 5, whose real name is John Lowery, acquired his stage name in 1998 when he joined the rock band Marilyn Manson as a guitarist.

He also became the guitarist for Rob Zombie and collaborated with, among others, Avril Lavigne, David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osbourne, and Steve Perry.

John 5 has also released ten solo guitar albums, the two most recent of which are Invasion and Sinner. In 2019 and 2020, respectively, they will be accessible.

In addition, he released the remix album Remixploitation in 2009 and the live albums It’s Alive in 2018 and Live Invasion in 2020.

Why did Mick Mars make his retirement announcement?

Mick Mars, the band’s founding guitarist, decided to leave after being diagnosed with the arthritic condition Ankylosing Spondylitis.

According to the group’s official declaration:

Mick Mars, the co-founder and primary guitarist of the heavy metal band Motley Crue for the past 41 years, announced today that he will no longer be able to perform with the group due to his ongoing battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis (A.S.).

The statement continued by saying:

“Mick will remain in the band, but he can no longer endure the rigors of the road.” A.S. is a degenerative disease of the spine that is extremely excruciating and debilitating.”

Mars was diagnosed with the condition at the age of seventeen. It limited his mobility and caused him great suffering. Late in 2004, the artist underwent hip replacement surgery, which made his condition worse and caused his lower vertebrae to spasm and freeze.

Additionally, it caused scoliosis on his back and compressed him downward and forward, causing him to be three inches shorter than he was in high school.
