Taylor began her musical career at the age of fifteen in the band Little Red Rocket with Orenda Fink. The band’s two Geffen releases were Who Did You Pay (1997) and It’s in the Sound (2000). The band disbanded as a result of the merger of Geffen Records and Universal Music Group. Taylor and her musical partner, Fink, then moved to Athens, Georgia. They formed the band Azure Ray there.

WARM signed the duo and released both their self-titled debut and their second album, Burn and Shiver. After meeting the band in Athens, Bright Eyes vocalist Conor Oberst brought them on tour and recommended them to Saddle Creek. Saddle Creek then released the November EP and Hold on Love. Taylor and Fink took a 6-year hiatus following the release of Hold on Love, during which time they released separate albums. Saddle Creek Records released her debut solo album 11:11 on May 24, 2005.

Taylor’s previous collaborations include Bright Eyes, Joshua Radin, Moby, Crooked Fingers, Whispertown, Abra Moore, and Nik Freitas.
