The actor Ray Liotta passed away last year, and an autopsy determined that he died of cardiovascular illness.
Atherosclerotic disease, the buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls, was officially confirmed on Monday as the cause of death for the 67-year-old “Goodfellas” actor who died in his sleep while filming the movie “Dangerous Waters” in the Dominican Republic a year ago.
His death was attributed to heart and respiratory failure as well as pulmonary edema (the accumulation of fluid in the lungs).
Publicist Jennifer Allen told CBS News that Liotta passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Dominican authorities determined that death may have occurred between 8 and 10 hours before the body was recovered and an autopsy was performed on May 26, 2022 (at 3:22 p.m.).
Most people recognize Liotta from his role as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s groundbreaking gangster picture “Goodfellas,” which he starred in with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in 1990.
To name just a few of her recent film roles, Ray Liotta may be seen in Marriage Story, Killing Them Softly, The Place Beyond the Pines, and the “Sopranos” prequel, The Many Saints of Newark.
