Neymar has been punished by Brazilian authorities with a £2.6 million (16 million reais) punishment for breaking environmental laws when building his seaside property.
The mansion’s manmade lake, which has raised concerns, has finally resulted in punishment.
An Instagram video that Neymar shared that was believed to depict the artificial lake the former Barcelona star is constructing at his property gave rise to the first accusation of an environmental infraction that was brought to Mangaratiba City Hall.
Infractions of the environment were committed “in the construction of an artificial lake at the mansion,” according to a statement released on Monday by Mangaratiba’s environmental organization.
Along with the penalties, Neymar’s case will be investigated by a number of environmental regulatory agencies, including the local attorney general’s office, the state civil police, and the environmental protection office.
In a dispute over the prohibited building work, it was claimed last month that Neymar’s father “insulted environmental agents and was threatened with arrest.”
Neymar Snr. received a warning that personnel in charge of carrying out the task need “more education,” according to Brazilian source UOL Sport.
Neymar Snr. received a fine that is thought to be over £822,000 (five million Brazilian reals) due to the property damage the work produced.
The mansion’s location in the hamlet of Mangaratiba, on the southern shore of Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state, has caused controversy over the opulent project.
Neymar, who is pleased with the lake project, recently said on Instagram: “Almost there… awaiting the opportunity to benefit from (Genesis Ecossistemas’) wonderful gift! Not much is still left (applause emoji).
Genesis Ecossistemas, the business mentioned, constructs lakes and natural swimming pools.
It has been found that the lake on Neymar Jnr’s property “promotes deforestation, rock breaking, and the diversion of a river.”
Several environmental violations from the prohibited work were uncovered by the authorities during their investigation, including “the diversion of a water course, extraction of river water without authorization, extraction of water for an artificial lake, earthworks, excavation, and movement of stones and rocks without authorization.”
