After 31 years, Ken, the host of BBC Radio 2’s weekday mid-morning show, announced his departure from the organization. Bruce announced his departure from BBC Radio 2 on January 17, 2023, saying that he will be looking into other opportunities, such as hosting a brand-new mid-morning show for Greatest Hits Radio.
According to the Mirror, a morning tweet from BBC Radio 2 broke the news of Ken’s choice. The tweet read, “After 31 years of hosting the 9:30am-midday show on weekdays, Ken Bruce has decided to leave.
In August 2007, when the BBC announcer was on vacation, he was briefly replaced by Davina McCall, which led to more than 150 listener complaints. In September 2018, Ken succeeded Freda Roberts, a longtime supporter and co-founder of Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio and a former mayor of Aylesbury.

On January 17, 2023, Ken announced his resignation from the company after more than three decades of employment. The BBC host joined rival station Greatest Hits Radio after leaving his most popular program on British radio. From April 3, 2023, Popmaster would replace Mark Goodier in the daily 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. slot, according to a statement given by Greatest Hits Radio.
The BBC says the Radio 2 host, known for its daily Popmaster quiz, has more than 8.5 million weekly listeners, according on statistics from the industry association Rajar.
