Health secretary Humza Yousaf seems unhappy at work. Video shows Yousaf using his scooter to walk down a corridor while a nurse chases him on crutches. New Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf Confirmed
After a Scottish Parliament vote, Humza Yousaf became Scotland’s first minister. The Scottish Greens and his own MSPs handed the SNP Leader a majority. Despite knowing they had little chance of winning, the three opposition leaders opposed him.
Following Nicola Sturgeon, Mr. Yousaf is the sixth and first ethnic minority minister. The first Muslim to lead a major UK party, he is also the youngest first minister at 37. Mr. Yousaf selected Shona Robison, the social justice secretary and Ms. Sturgeon loyalist, as his deputy first minister following the vote.
He also announced that his government will include a “minister for independence,” a pledge he made during the leadership election. Ms. Sturgeon resigned as first minister on Tuesday after eight years in office. Last month, she resigned when a successor was appointed. All 64 SNP MSPs and seven Greens supported Mr. Yousaf, and the two parties shared power in the 129-seat Parliament.
