Steve Stricker Illness
Late in 2022, Stricker fell unwell with an unidentified ailment. He experienced flu-like symptoms, jaundice, and an erratic pulse.
He first developed a persistent fever, a sore throat, and other unsettling symptoms.
He tested negative for Covid-19, but his illness worsened, so he went to UW Health University Hospital for treatment.
Stricker struggled with issues like a high white blood cell count, a low liver count, jaundice, and swelling in his lips and tongue while he was in the hospital.
He also had an abnormal pulse and myocarditis or pericarditis, which is inflammation around the heart.
Stricker lost 25 pounds and lost the ability to walk more than a few steps as his health deteriorated.
Stricker made a spectacular return to the PGA Tour Champions after spending almost two weeks in the hospital, finishing second at the Insperity Invitational in April.
He was well enough by Christmas to celebrate with his family. He hasn’t disclosed any significant health relapses since then.

Stricker’s faith, his family’s support, and the absence of any serious health problems gave him comfort throughout the process.
He knew he had conquered huge obstacles, but he maintained his optimism and kept focused on his recovery from sickness in late 2022.
