When Keely Hodgkinson joined Leigh Harriers at the age of nine, she began her athletic career. She ran in the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships in London when she was ten years old, finishing second in the 500 meters with a personal best time of 1:34.28.
She placed eighth overall as well. Keely Hodgkinson created history by being the first girl from Leigh Harriers to win the individual under-11 title in both the Red Rose League and the South East Lancashire League after winning a one-mile cross-country competition.
