Aja Metoyer, who shot to prominence in 2017 as the face of the VH1 reality series Basketball Wives, has three children.
Her two former spouses share joint custody of her children. With her ex-husband, Damon Wayans Jr., she gave birth to Aniya and Amara Wayans, her first two daughters.
She then divorced Wayans Jr. and had a brief relationship with former NBA player Dwyane Wade. With him, she gave birth to Xavier Zechariah Wade on November 10, 2013. She dissolved her relationship with Wade and is now a single parent to her three children.

Metoyer and Wade’s connection was revealed for the first time in 2013 when the reality TV star gave birth to Wade’s son, Xavier.

As the child was born just six weeks prior to Wade’s engagement to actress Gabrielle Union, the revelation was first met with criticism.
In contrast, Metoyer and Wade handled the issue with maturity. Wade was the first to reveal he was the child’s father, while Union, his wife, reportedly indicated she was okay with the situation.
He revealed that Xavier was conceived when he met Metoyer and that he had a falling out with Union. Wade’s ex-wife consented to co-parent their son, allowing him to proceed with his marriage to Union.
Wade, on the other hand, feels obligated to maintain a good relationship with his son, as Xavier has spent the majority of his time with his mother since the divorce. This was noted in his photographic memoir Dwyane, published in November 2021.
He described the challenges he faces as the parent of an eight-year-old boy.
Because Xavier does not reside with me, we do not see each other as frequently as I do with my other children. Sometimes it makes things difficult.
He elaborated,
“However, it is my responsibility to ensure that he never bears this burden.”
In addition to Xavier, the former Miami Heat player has two children with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, Zaya and Zaire Wade, as well as a daughter with his current wife Union, Kaavia James Union Wade. Additionally, he cares for Dahveon Morris, the son of Wade’s sister Deanna.

Wayans Jr., on the other hand, petitioned the court for primary custody of their two girls in September 2018, alleging that she was not taking their schooling seriously.
In the complaint he filed in Los Angeles, he explained that his daughters were routinely absent or tardy to school.
In addition, he added that they were provided with a list of difficulties negatively affecting their education and family lives.
Metoyer reportedly retains primary custody of her two children with Wayans Jr. despite the charges.
She routinely posts pictures of them and her son Xavier on social media, proving her love for the youngsters.
