According To Jeffree Star, The James And Tati Scandal Destroyed The Beauty Industry

Jeffree Star

Jeffree Star, YouTube’s wealthiest cosmetics artist, appeared on Logan Paul’s podcast Impulsive on 15 June 2022. Star discussed anything from dating Kanye West and professional athletes (NBA, NFL, Golf) to living in Wyoming with one hundred weapons and one thousand yaks.

He also highlighted the 2019 doom of the YouTube beauty community, also known as Dramageddon 2.0. Shane Dawson, a YouTube celebrity and documentary filmmaker, as well as cosmetic professionals Tati Westbrook and James Charles, were at the center of the drama.

In a YouTube video titled “Bye Sister,” Westbrook made allegations against Charles, her former companion, and protégé.

Westbrook claimed in the film that Charles had preyed upon other young men who did not identify as homosexual. The damaging allegations caused Charles to lose thousands of followers and lucrative advertising contracts overnight.

Subsequently, Charles released a video titled ‘No More Lies’ in which he provided a detailed explanation of the situation based on actual facts.

Star, who claimed to be aware of Charles’ predatory behavior, also corroborated Tati’s accusations. Unfortunately, he never offered any evidence to support his claims, and he later said he did not know whether they were true.

On June 30, 2022, after a year-long hiatus following the ‘Bye Sister’ incident, Westbrook emerged on YouTube, stating that everything she had written about Charles was poisoned lies supplied by Dawson and Star.

Dawson and Star went on a social media frenzy after the broadcast of Westbook’s video, claiming that the beauty guru was lying.

Unfortunately, online users began searching for Dawson’s earlier bad behavior and discovered racist and pedophilic tweets. Dawson lost over one million YouTube subscribers and one billion views as a result of being compelled to remove obsolete content.

Subsequently, he issued a video apology and deleted himself from social media. Netizens also attempted to remove Star from social media, resulting in his disappearance.

Due to volatility and negativity, Star stated on the Impaulsive show that the YouTube beauty community was “essentially dead.” Moreover, he stated that individuals attempted to discredit him.

“People were awful, and they wanted to portray me as a villain since Shane and I had the most successful and largest launch in the history of cosmetics. People were enraged by our success and intended to tear us down,”

Star stated,

“He continued by stating that the “James and Tati” scandal ruined the beauty community and emotionally damaged him.

The Autobiography of Jeffree Star Will Address the Drama

Star revealed nothing about the drama in the podcast, but fans can read the story of Dramageddon 2.0 in his book. During an interview with Women’s Wear Daily to promote his new skincare line, the YouTuber discussed the condition of his brand market and autobiography.

In his forthcoming book, Star suggested that he will discuss his interpretation of the Dramageddon.

“I feel there was a tipping point with the Dramageddon occurrences and various things that made the beauty community and industry strange,” he explained.

He indicated that he did not know how or when the incident occurred, but that he was writing a book and stating the truth from his point of view. Star found it nice to see people who were more interested in facts and information than in drama.
