Well-known actor Mickey Kuhn passed away on November 20 at the age of 90. His wife, Barbara, told The Hollywood Reporter that he was in excellent condition and at a hospice facility in Naples, Florida, prior to his passing.
He began his career as a juvenile actor and worked in the film industry during the Golden Age of Hollywood. His roles in films such as Gone with the Wind, Juarez, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Red River, and Broken Arrow brought him fame.

Mickey Kuhn starred in a number of films over the years, but his role in the 1939 historical romance film Gone with the Wind is his most well-known.
In Gone with the Wind, he portrayed the minor supporting character Beau Wilkes. Leslie Howard portrayed Ashley Wilkes, the character’s son.
Although Beau was not one of the film’s primary protagonists, he played a substantial supporting role alongside Paul Hurst, Cammie King, J.M. Kerrigan, Jackie Moran, and Lillian Kemble-Cooper. Kuhn was reportedly the only surviving member of the film’s credited cast.
The film’s main protagonists were portrayed by Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland. The premiere of Victor Fleming’s Gone with the Wind was on December 15, 1939.
Although it received positive reviews, both critics and audiences detested the film’s length. At the 12th Annual Academy Awards, the film won ten awards in ten categories.
Mickey Kuhn began his vocation as an actor as a child
Mickey Kuhn, who was born on September 21, 1932, ascended to prominence in the 1930s as a child actor. Following an audition with one hundred child actors, he was cast in Gone with the Wind.
In 1939, he appeared in Juarez, another historical drama film. He reunited with Vivien Leigh after 12 years in the 1951 Southern Gothic drama film A Streetcar Named Desire. From 1951 to 1955, he served as an aviation electrician in the Navy.
Mickey Kuhn departed the film industry in 1956 and worked for American Airlines at the Boston airport as an administrator until his retirement.
He continues to participate in film festivals and in 2005 was awarded the Golden Boot Award, which recognizes significant contributions to the Western genre.
King of the Underworld, S.O. Tidal Wave, When Tomorrow Comes, Bad Little Angel, and One Foot in Heaven are additional films in which Kuhn appeared. Among the films in which he has appeared are The Searching Wind, The Return of Rusty, High Conquest, and Magic Town.
His father worked as a meat cutter for Safeway, and the family moved to Los Angeles. Mickey stated in an interview with the website Films of the Golden Age:
“My mother and I were at Sears Roebuck on Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue when a woman approached her and informed her that Fox Studio was looking for twin children for a film they were shooting. She had a daughter who resembled me as an infant and feared that we might be cast. Therefore, we walked over there, where I was cast, but not the lady’s child.”
