I’m happy [Ratner] picked me for the task. Getting the job included a pretty drawn-out process. The actor guessed that it had been three months.

But later, the endeavor was abandoned. Bomer stated that he believed it would happen for a month, but it never did. The actor, though, has no remorse about it.

He justified this by saying that playing Superman would have overshadowed all of his other work and typecast him because he had been given such a diverse range of parts.

It is not just the fans who are aware of their uncanny similarities. The actors are aware of the ease with which fans have conflated the two. Cavill discussed in an interview how people kept requesting him to sign a certain image of Bomer.

People want me to continue signing a certain Matt Bomer photo, in particular. He is half-submerged and lying on his side in the water. I keep getting that in the mail and telling them, “I would love to sign this for you, but that is not me.” Certain parallels in facial structure exist, according to Cavill.

Bomer also discussed the similarities while participating in Ellen DeGeneres’ Internet Booth of Wonders. Cavill’s appearance as his twin was not a surprise to him.
