According to Nancy Medina, Bristol Old Vic needs to have “a real presence” in the city. The new creative director of the longest continuously operating theater in the country promised a season full of laughter and shared experiences.
Ms. Medina stated on BBC Points West,
“I think Bristol is a city with a lot of rebellious spirits and a good sense of humor.”
Nancy Medina continued by saying that she hoped that the pandemic will unite people.
I’ve given a lot of thought to the tone of this debut season, and it’s a happy one, she remarked.
After three years of the pandemic and feeling physically, intellectually, and emotionally isolated, I believe it is exactly what we need.
As the invitation puts it,
“Here is an invitation to be a part of a community for an evening: laugh together, feel together, think together, connect.”
Ms. Medina will make her Bristol Old Vic directing debut with Choir Boy by Tarell Alvin McCraney.
