Barbara Walters, The View co-host, died on Friday, December 30, at the age of 93.
The View’s official social media website paid tribute to her with a photo and a message that they were fortunate to have Walters as their creator, coworker, and friend. The article went on to say:
“She was a trailblazing television figure who broke numerous glass ceilings as a woman in the industry, including founding ‘The View’ in 1997 to support women’s perspectives. We feel privileged to be a part of her legacy. For the rest of her life, she will be remembered and missed.”
CNN host Don Lemon also expressed his sadness, stating that Walters was a wonderful television personality. Lemon also stated that he enjoyed spending time in person with Walters, citing a dinner party where he sat next to her and heard her as one of his favorite memories with The View co-host. He concluded by writing:
“I was astounded by her. Barbara Walters, rest in peace, with love and respect.”
She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family members, according to Cindi Berger, the late journalist’s publicist

The journalist worked for ABC until 2016 and announced her resignation as a presenter in May 2013. She returned to 20/20 in 2015 to anchor a few episodes. Barbara also hosted the Investigation Discovery documentary series American Scandals.
In 1989, she was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, and in 2007, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jacqueline Danforth, the daughter she adopted with her second husband, Lee Guber, survives the late journalist.
