Ben Affleck clarified how he truly feels about his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and reiterated that she is not to blame for his alcoholism.
Ben Affleck is tired of having statements he once made to Howard Stern about his ex-wife Jennifer Garner misinterpreted. Today, in a new interview, he is setting the record straight regarding Jennifer and his drinking, and he accepts full responsibility.
“The notion that I blamed my wife for my drinking,” the 50-year-old Argo actor told The Hollywood Reporter on March 16. To be clear, I am solely responsible for my behavior.
He went on to reveal how he currently and formerly felt about the 50-year-old Alias actress with whom he shares three children.
He continued,
“The point I was attempting to make was a sad one.” “Everyone who has been through a divorce calculates, How hard should we try? We cherished one another. We care for one another. We have mutual regard for one another.
I was attempting to explain, “Hey, look, I was drinking too much, and the less happy you become, whether it’s your job or your marriage, it’s just that if you’re doing unhealthy things to fill a void, you’ll start doing more of them as your life becomes more difficult.”
Oscar-winning screenwriter stated that his 2021 remarks, in which he used the word “trapped” in reference to his marriage and divorce, were “articulate” from the start.
“I think I was fairly vocal about that,” he remarked, adding that after it had been mischaracterized, “it didn’t matter how many times I said, ‘I do not feel this way,'” because it had already been misconstrued. I assure you, my ex-wife is not to blame for my alcoholism. So, yeah. It’s tough.”
On a much brighter note, he described how his 53-year-old new wife Jennifer Lopez has supported him. “However, J Lo told me today to relax and be myself. Have fun. You are actually a humorous, sincere, and genuine individual, although you appear to be so serious.
Do I seem serious? However, as in many instances, she is correct. She also loves me. Jennifer watches out for me. She is attempting to aid me. Thus, perhaps I should f***ing listen to her.
