In 1970, David Geffen and Elliot Roberts, a friend from their time at William Morris, co-founded Asylum Records. Early in the 1970s, Geffen signed a number of the most well-known rock and roll acts, including The Eagles, Jackson Browne, and Linda Ronstadt.
