Bob Asserts That Her Voice Has Not Changed Since Undergoing Throat Surgery

Bob

Since her unexpected victory on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bob the Drag Queen has experienced significant life changes, including a throat procedure that she has been open about.

The drag queen, born Christopher Caldwell, debuted on the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Bob’s funny abilities and magnetic personality won over both the crowd and Ru.

She won three challenges before claiming the overall title. She was named “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and received a $100,000 cash prize on May 16, 2016.

With her success, the drag queen’s life has changed radically. Former RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Eureka O’Hara and Shangela appeared in the HBO reality show We’re Here, which she hosted.

The winner also had throat surgery, which she mentioned in her interview for Get Out.

Surgery on Bob the Drag Queen’s Throat

The drag performer had surgery late in 2021. She did not reveal the reasons for her decision, but rather her life after therapy. Bob remarked in an interview with getting Out that she appeared different since she hadn’t been grooming herself and revealed that she only shaved her beard prior to playing.

Yet, this was because she was recovering from throat surgery. “Oh, not yet,” she replied when asked how she felt about her new voice. I am still in recovery, but I am able to converse. Since I haven’t yet explored the limitations of my voice, I’m a little scared.”

A fellow drag queen, Trixie Mattel, revealed on her blog, Unpaid Spokeswomen, that Bob’s voice had changed after the operation.

“She had recently undergone throat surgery, so her customary cigarette-a-day gruff mumble was astonishingly clear as she greeted me in her new, crystal-clear mezzo-soprano,” the author said.

After recovering, the drag queen went on Instagram Live while applying makeup to assuage the public’s curiosity regarding her new voice, reiterating that it had not changed dramatically.

Bob the Drag Queen Talks About His New Voice

Bob also discussed the voice change with co-host Monét X Change on her Sibling Rivalry program. When asked how she liked her new voice, Bob said that she enjoyed it a lot, but that the time after surgery when she couldn’t speak was difficult.

The drag queen claimed that because she was unable to talk following her treatment, her two lovers, Jacob Ritts and Ezra Michel, could only communicate with her through lip reading and hand gestures.

But, Michel and Ritts were so terrible that Bob felt exhausted and occasionally yelled.

I attempted to converse with Jacob and Ezra on multiple occasions, but they were unable to read my lips. Bob said, “I told Jacob I loved him, but he didn’t understand, so I pointed at my eye, then my heart, and then at him, but he was like, ‘u need me to fetch you some water or something”

Ultimately, the winner of Drag Race exclaimed,

“I love you!” Bob was told by Monét X Change that it was unquestionably her fault because her lips were “so huge.”
