When a Dua Lipa fan described her as “our generation’s Cher,” an artificial rivalry between the two vocalists was born. The user also provided a video of the two singers acting and dressing identically.
Since the message was shared on numerous accounts, the video has been viewed more than a million times. It should be mentioned, though, that Dua Lipa has previously been compared to the singer of If I Could Turn Back Time.
Many people compared Lipa’s 2021 outfit to Cher’s outfit from 1974 when she wore a custom-made Versace gown covered in Swarovski crystals and adorned with a massive butterfly on the neckline.
The video mentioned earlier also included the contrast. Dua paid homage to Cher by sporting her iconic Bob Mackie nude dress with feathers and the word “Believe” on it during a 2018 Paris show. The outfit was worn by the 76-year-old at the 1974 Met Gala.
The apparel label Versace has worked with the actors as well. According to Paper Magazine, Dua has chosen the face of the premium company in June 2021. Cher launched her own brand, Chersace, this summer in partnership with the Italian design company.
The tweet was intended to praise both vocalists, but Cher supporters contend that Dua Lipa hasn’t had the same influence on the music industry as Cher.
Devoted Dua fans, however, emphasized that she has won numerous awards and been recognized for her distinctive sense of style, making her an icon similar to Cher. Hours of the unexpected argument over Dua’s celebrity standing were spent on Twitter.
Be serious, she probably would disagree herself; all dua lipa did was journey across Pangea during the pandemic and give us a fantastic album. Now you all despise her because someone compared her to Cher.
