Channing Matthew Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama, on April 26, 1980, to Kay (an airline employee) and Glenn Tatum (worked in construction). Channing’s younger sister is Paige. Channing is of Caucasian ancestry and holds an American passport.
Channing’s family moved to Mississippi when he was six years old, and he grew up in the Mississippi River bayous. Tatum’s athletic body made him want to play football, soccer, track, martial arts, and baseball. Similarly, during the summers, he was raised by his grandparents. Tatum went to Gaither High School, but when given the choice between a private high school and a military school, Channing chose the latter and went to Tampa Catholic High School.
Tatum graduated in 1998 and was named Tampa Catholic’s most athletic student. Channing went on to play football at Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia.
Channing eventually left and returned home. Tatu worked in a variety of fields prior to becoming a model. Channing was later discovered by a model talent scout in Miami. Tatum has walked the runways for brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Aeropostale. Channing’s first fashion show was for Men’s Health Magazine in 2000 at Level Nightclub in Miami’s South Beach.
