Court documents listing the six individuals charged in Hoffman’s murder indicate that detectives believe Darin Schilmiller of New Salisbury, Indiana, claimed online to be a millionaire called “Tyler” and paid 18-year-old Denali Brehmer $9 million or more to “rape and murder someone in Alaska.” According to the prosecution documents, Brehmer was supposed to send Schilmiller pictures and video of the murder in compensation.

In the instance of Cynthia Hoffman’s death, the five adolescents reportedly met together in May or the first few days of June to plan the murder and chose Hoffman as the target because her family said she had a developmental disorder. Family members claim that Hoffman had referred to Brehmer as her “best buddy.”

The adolescents told the police that they were each eligible for a percentage of the payment that Schilmiller had offered them for taking part in the murder. Documents in the case state that Leyland told investigators he had received a $500,000 offer. Leyland is thought to have lent Brehmer and McIntosh his car to use in the slaying.

The prosecution claims that after the murder, Brehmer realized she was a catfish. Authorities believe Brehmer gave Schilmiller Snapchat footage of Hoffman being taped up and pictures of Hoffman being tied. She is accused of sending images of Hoffman’s body after the murder as well. The indictment claims that Hoffman was not the victim of sexual assault.

Brehmer and McIntosh are accused of claiming to be hikers while joining Hoffman on a trip to Thunderbird Falls in Chugiak on June 2. In accordance with the allegations made against them, after arriving, the gang allegedly diverted from the path and proceeded down the Eklutna River’s bank until they came to a clearing, when McIntosh and Brehmer allegedly duct taped Hoffman’s wrists, feet, and mouth.

In Alaska, a woman confessed to killing a little kid who thought her killer was her “best friend” after being seduced with millions of dollars by a man acting as wealthy.

Denali Brehmer, 22, was 18 when the offer was made. In exchange for $9 million, a guy calling himself “Tyler” and claiming to be from Kansas would kidnap and murder 18-year-old Cynthia “CeeCee” Hoffman and give the anonymous contributor photographic evidence of the horrible event.

Brehmer admits to tricking the girl into going through Thunderbird Falls by offering her money when they made their way to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in Chugiak, Alaska, north of Anchorage. The defendant and a buddy held the girl down there with duct tape before shooting her in the head, all the while recording the killing for the person who had asked.

In 2019, a catfished killer agreed to a plea agreement in which he admitted to killing his ‘best buddy’ in exchange for $9 million from a fictitious millionaire. Authorities believe Hoffman could have been there when her corpse was dumped into a nearby river, according to N.B.C. station KTUU in Anchorage. Additionally, Brehmer is accused of federal child pornography.

Brehmer and McIntosh allegedly took a car belonging to a third defendant, 23-year-old Caleb Leyland, to use that day. Alaskan authorities have also charged him with murder. Two further unnamed individuals are supposedly involved. Trial dates for Schilmiller, Leyland, and McIntosh are still to be decided. The two of them will appear in court together on March 15.
