Daisy May Cooper, a comedian, has admitted to shoplifting prior to her breakthrough role on This Country. Based on their lives in the Cotswolds, Ms. Cooper and her brother Charlie Cooper co-wrote and performed in the sitcom.
The 36-year-old actress stated in this week’s Radio Times, “Charlie and I used to shoplift frequently.”
It is terrible, but you do what you must survive.
Ms. Cooper stated that she understood it was “immoral” and added that her brother was “caught” in a supermarket, following which they were both “followed about.”
She has previously discussed growing up in “rural poverty” in Gloucestershire and holding “a variety of low-paying, unsatisfying occupations.”
The twins went on to win Bafta TV awards for their BBC Three series in the categories of breakthrough talent and scripted comedy.
Daisy May Cooper also stars as a working-class single mother in the comedic series Rain Dogs.
“If you come from such a background, getting money becomes an addiction,” she continued.
“I could not care less what it is, to be honest.
Even if it is a terrible reality love program, if it will put food on the table, I will participate.
