DJ Steve Aoki Stated That He Earns More Money Via NFT Than From Music

DJ Steve Aoki

DJ Steve Aoki has stated that his music royalties in 2021 will pale in comparison to the revenue he will earn from selling digital collectibles known as NFTs.

What is the Net Worth of Steve Aoki?

Steve Aoki is a well-known DJ, producer, music programmer, and record executive on a global scale. Pollstar ranked him the highest-grossing electronic dance music artist in North America for 2012 tours.

According to research, the 44-year-old old’s worth exceeds $120 million as of October 2022. He has made a considerable fortune as a DJ and record producer in the music industry.

Aoki and his wife Tiernan Cowling reside in Henderson, Nevada. In 2008, during the global financial crisis and real estate market slump, a 16,000-square-foot home was built.

The property had been listed for $12 million and was sold at auction in 2014. Aoki acquired the property for less than $3 million in cash.

In recent years, the artist spent millions of dollars transforming the home into the technologically advanced and contemporary atmosphere of his dreams, appropriately naming it Aoki’s Playhouse.

The singer discussed his endeavor into NFTs during a private Gala Music event in Inglewood, California, on February 10. He stated that he earns a substantial income as a DJ and mentioned:

“If I were to properly break it down, in the ten years I’ve been making music, I’ve released six albums, and if you add up all the advances, I made more money last year in a single drop of NFTs.”

The previous year, Steve gained recognition in the community after selling his hairy collection on Nifty Gateway for $888,888.88. Additionally, he owns a number of NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.

Aoki stated in a video from the event that NFTs are digital artworks connected to blockchain technology that is transforming the music industry by combining scarcity and a collector mentality similar to Pokémon cards or limited-edition sneakers.

According to Insider, NFTs have the potential to disrupt the music industry and offer musicians a revenue stream that exceeds the marginal income from streaming services. Aoki stated in the forum:

“Labels will be compelled to do more than simply put a song on a playlist as music NFTs become more common in how we include and support artists.”
