The senior citizen exited the stage following an unsuccessful audition. According to the transcript, Walliams referred to him as “a cunt” three times when he was out of earshot. In December 2022, David Walliams made his final appearance on Britain’s Got Talent before joining the judging panel of the spin-off series The Ultimate Magician.
David, who also writes for children, was compelled to repent for his offensive remarks about BGT contestants after they were revealed.
Despite the scathing remarks, his attorneys and Thames TV, the show’s production company, argued that they were part of a private conversation and not intended for public consumption.
David Walliams issued an apology for his disrespectful remarks
David has issued an apology for his “disrespectful comments” made during the pauses in filming. His decision to quit the program was reportedly not made casually.
The offensive remarks were made during a January 2020 audition recorded at the London Palladium. Lawyers for Walliams and Thames TV, the production company behind Britain’s Got Talent, asserted that the remarks were private and never meant to be broadcast.
According to The Sun, Devid decided to resign after ten years because he wanted to end his career on a high note. They went on to say that his participation in the program had brought him a great deal of entertainment and pleasure and that he was arguably the most popular panelist.
A spokesperson for Britain’s Got Talent told The Mirror that the 2023 judging panel would be disclosed in due time.
What Prior Controversies Did David Face?
David has not been involved in a controversy for the first time.
Both he and Matt Lucas were well-known in Little Britain for their masquerade performances. Matt dressed as Pastor Jesse King, and David as Desiree DeVere.
The BBC removed “Little Britain” from iPlayer in 2020, citing the passage of time since the program’s initial broadcast. Matt and David released a statement expressing their disappointment with the decision. In recent years, both actors have expressed regret publicly for portraying characters of distinct ethnicities.
