Ellie Goldstein is 21 years old, and she has already accomplished what most models can only hope for. Ellie was revealed as one of five cover heroes for the most recent issue of British Vogue last week.
The new issue concentrates on 19 disabled individuals from the fashion, sports, and artistic communities.
Ellie has Down syndrome and has been a model for five years, earning major campaigns for brands such as ASOS and Gucci.
She tells BBC Newsbeat that she wished to be a part of the Vogue issue in order to serve as a “role model for others in the industry” and that she was “honored” to be asked.
“It was my dream,” she declares. “Now I’m on it.”
Ellie’s favorite part of the filming that took place four weeks ago was getting her hair and makeup done.
“And it was elegant. Even my attire was scintillating on me. “I absolutely loved it,” she says.
Ellie states that she “never” envisaged herself on the cover of Vogue. Last week, when it was unveiled on social media, she saw it at the same time as the public.
Ellie was at college on the day in question, anxiously awaiting the announcement.
“Then I realized it. She exclaims, “I was like, oh my God!”
Then, I cried for approximately two minutes.
Ellie has also been selected as the ambassador for an inclusive Barbie model based on a person with Down syndrome in the United Kingdom.
She has not yet accomplished all of her goals, and in the future, she hopes to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.
And she expects to see more people with disabilities modeling in order to “represent people in the world in an inclusive manner.”
