Charlie Baker is one of ten aspiring recording artists featured on Project Icon on BBC Three. A singer-songwriter from Essex who participated in a recent BBC reality television competition and ultimately lost claims that the experience has made him a better artist.
The series is judged by the performer Jason Derulo, the Brit Award-winning Becky Hill, and the music mogul Frank Harris.
Kissin’, the 22-year-old’s upcoming single, is nearing its release.
Charlie said,
“I am extremely grateful for the experience because I was able to learn and grow so much from the challenges they presented to us.”
“You had to determine the brand you wished to represent and the type of artist you desired to be.”
Project Icon, which premiered on BBC iPlayer on March 26th, features artists competing in challenges that reflect the contemporary music industry, such as creating a TikTok video that goes viral.
Charlie Baker, a self-described pop-R&B artist, has already received mainstream exposure, with a song he co-wrote appearing on the summer 2022 episode of ITV2’s Love Island.
He resides in Coggeshall, close to Braintree, and is a full-time social media marketer.
“Love Island has tempted me, but Project Icon was the perfect fit,” he told BBC Essex.
This allowed me to gain exposure and become recognized for my music.
He characterized the international American superstar Jason Derulo as a “very nice guy.”
