Evan Lambert, a NewsNation television reporter, was detained while being filmed at a press conference on Wednesday in Ohio.
When Lambert bothered to speak during Gov. Mike DeWine’s speech at the conference, local police enforcement requested him to stop, but the reporter didn’t take their request seriously.
After being arrested in front of the cameras, the governor gave an explanation, claiming that he had not asked the police to halt him.
“It has always been my practice that if I’m doing a press conference, someone wants to report out there and they want to be talking back to the people back on channel, whatever, they have every right to do that,” the governor added.
Since the incident, Lambert has been detained and is being charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.
DeWine acknowledged that he did not order his arrest, but he just wanted to make a point in front of the crowd. Lambert, the reporter, prevented him from doing so.
The conference’s photographer and filmmaker said that he was asked to remain silent for a while.

Journalist Jordan Miller reported that Lambert is still being held at the Columbiana County Jail as of this writing and that a decision would be made tomorrow.

Law enforcement did not respond to the comment right away since the governor shared it on Twitter and noted that he had not requested that they make an arrest in connection with the report, meaning he might not serve much time behind bars.
In the video, Evan is seen being hauled out of the conference while yelling at the police and stating, “Just trying to do my job,” to the onlookers.
Evan was merely attempting to speak and make a legitimate point to the governor; the correspondent had remarked that it was difficult to do a job in 2023.
