Evelyn’s family began their investigation after requesting security camera footage from surrounding businesses to determine her route after she left work out of irritation.

They were successful when a local department store’s CCTV system saw her car approaching a neighborhood less than a mile from the Rio Grande.

The discovery of Evelyn’s vehicle at a nearby property, where it had been before she moved into the apartment building, allowed police to find it.

On Monday, Chief Garza told the media that an arrest had been made in the case.

Garza asserts that Jesus Esteban Vasquez, an Eagle Pass resident, was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle after moving Evelyn’s Dodge from his home to an apartment the day after she vanished.
