George Younce, a vocalist, was married to Clara Younce. On April 27, 1955, he proposed to her; they were wed until his passing in 2005. The couple had five children while they were married for almost 50 years.

They had one son, George Lane, and four daughters: Lisa Younce, Gina Younce Eroskey, Tara Younce Aidala, and Dana Lynn Younce Wills.

Younce spent more than ten years working with some of the most well-known musical groups, such as The Weatherfords, Florida Boys, and Homeland Harmony Quartet.

He went everywhere with the organizations, both domestically and overseas. In 1963, Younce, lead vocalists Glen Payne, Danny Koker, and Bobby Clark established the Cathedral Quartet.

The musical group traveled the world together for 36 years.

Younce won 14 Singing News Fan Awards for “Favorite Southern Gospel Bass” Singer thanks to his continuous labor in the music business.

In 1988, he was also recognized as a “Living Legend” of gospel music. He was admitted to the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame at Dollywood later that year, in 1998.
