13 women have accused actor Gerard Depardieu of sexual assault or harassment, according to an investigation by the French news website Mediapart.
According to the website, the women allege that the celebrity groped them, placed his hands in their underwear, and made lewd remarks.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred on film and television sets or in public over the past two decades.
A counsel for 74-year-old Mr. Depardieu stated that he “formally denies all criminal charges.”
The actor nominated for an Oscar and a Bafta is known for films such as Jean de Florette, Green Card, and Cyrano de Bergerac.
Two years have passed since he was placed under criminal investigation for alleged rape, which he denies.
In the investigation conducted by Mediapart, an extra on a film set stated that he placed his hand under her dress before attempting to “slip in to get to my knickers.” The woman claimed that when she pushed his hand away, he became aggressive and attempted again.
Another participant described how the actor “grabbed [me] by the waist” between takes, had a “wandering hand,” and “ended up insistently placing his hand on my buttocks.”
During a crowd scenario, one woman claimed he attempted to “touch her genitalia.” On a separate occasion, accompanied by a man he identified as the producer, the actor allegedly seized her from behind and “rubbed my hips, stomach, and breasts”
Many of the women told Mediapart that they were stunned that his alleged behavior was tolerated or even met with laughter on the film sets.
“Adults permitted an actor to fondle my breasts in front of everyone,” stated a 17-year-old actress at the time.
The Paris prosecutor’s office told AFP on Wednesday that it had not yet received any new complaints.
Mr. Depardieu continues to be investigated for the alleged rape of an actress in 2018.
