“Gordon Pinsent’s daughters, Leah and Beverly, and son, Barry, would like to report that their father died quietly in his slumber today, surrounded by his family. Gordon loved this country and its people, mission, and culture until the day he died.”

In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid tribute to Pinsent, writing that Gordon was one of the most famous performers and that he was an impassioned, engaging, and gifted individual. The rest of the post is as follows:

Another lawmaker, Seamus O’Regan, paid tribute to Pinsent on Facebook, posting a few photos and writing:

“With each passing moment, the sparkle in his eye seemed to grow brighter. He was devoted to his wife, family, and job. And he adored this spot. Many of us thought of him as a friend and guide. “May Gordon Pinsent rest in peace.”

Gordon Pinsent was born on July 12, 1930, to Florence “Flossie” and Stephen Arthur Pinsent. He began performing at a young age and was involved in several radio, television, and film projects. Pinsent was renowned for his faultless theatrical performance and made his television début as David Black in Scarlett Hill, which ran from 1962 to 1964. He made his feature film debut in 1964 with Lydia and Don’t Forget to Clean the Blood Off.

Gordon has also appeared in Chandler, The Rowdyman, Only God Knows, Blackwood, Who Has Seen the Wind, Babar: The Motion, The Shipping News, and other features. He also featured in a number of television shows, including Travels in Rainbow Country, Banacek, A Gift to Last, Seeing Things, Friday the 13th: The Series, Corner Gas, Private Eyes, and others.

Gordon Pinsent served as a commander in the Canadian Army for four years in the 1950s before receiving the Order of Canada in 1979 and 1998. He also hosted The Late Show on CBS Radio One, an investigative show. In 2006, Pinsent was named a Member of the Royal Society of Canada, and she starred in the short film “Living Doesn’t Frighten Me,” which won several awards at the Toronto Student Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival.
