Kim Plath, the star of Welcome to Plathville, was arrested in Florida on Thursday, October 20, 2022, for driving under the influence, with additional charges of property damage and bodily harm.
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office in Crawfordville, Florida, confirmed her arrest, according to PEOPLE. But, the reality star was released on Thursday following her detention.
Kim Plath appeared on Welcome to Plathville with her nine children and ex-husband, including Ethan, Micah, Hosanna, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy. Four months after her divorce from Barry, she was arrested. The former couple was wed for over 24 years.
The Sheriff’s office has sent the following statement to PEOPLE:
“She was detained due to an outstanding warrant issued by another agency. She turned herself in to our organization. Today, she was apprehended after surrendering to the sheriff’s office in the lobby.”
After her imprisonment, Kim Plath, the star of Welcome to Plathville, has been accused of hypocrisy by her fans.
The arrest of Kim Plath prompted a flurry of social media posts from fans. Some considered it hypocritical for Kim to drive under the influence when she was portrayed as a normal mother. Others asserted they saw it coming because the celebrity’s fame blinded them.

Kim Plath, who describes herself as a “naturopathic doctor,” studied music at Florida State University. The family Plath is musically inclined and performs as a gospel music group.
The November 2019 premiere of the television stars’ program Welcome to Plathville brought them to notoriety. The family gained notoriety for living an extremely unconventional lifestyle.
Their children were educated at home, had no access to electronic devices or video games, and had never tasted sugary beverages.
During Season 4 of the reality program, Kim and her now ex-husband Barry were living apart, according to Kim. She mentioned that they were spending time apart due to her move to a vacant rental property. Kim then continued:
“I never anticipated it to turn out this way. It is simply a time of huge transformation at the moment, and I do not know what that will entail. Barry attempted for a while, but I had the idea that he wasn’t truly attempting.”
Kim disclosed Barry’s unsuccessful attempts to mend their relationship. She continued:
“It seems as if he wants me to stay, but I’m not sure if he wants to change. I do not believe that emotional connection can be restored.”
In recounting his side of the story, Barry acknowledged feeling duped and distressed by the circumstances surrounding their separation. He declared:
“I cannot help feeling cheated. I imagined we were the only thing that could never be disturbed. Now, it has entirely altered. It is quite sad. It is tragic… When I look at her, I see a lady who is unable to move on. I’ve bought her flowers and gifts, but I’m still hopeful that she’ll change.”
In June 2022, the former couple issued a joint statement to US Weekly announcing their divorce. The couple from Welcome to Plathville split “after considerable consideration and discussion”
They claimed:
“This was not an easy decision to make, but we recognize that it is the best option for both of us. Throughout our 24 years of marriage, we’ve seen many highs and lows, and as we embark on this new chapter, we’ll co-parent our amazing children.”
