In addition, he carried for 1,195 yards and 12 touchdowns. He accumulated 10,688 passing yards and 117 touchdowns during his high school career. After graduating from high school, he received a scholarship offer from Arizona State University and spent the offseason working with former ASU quarterback Taylor Kelley in Tempe, Arizona.
However, he turned down that offer and chose to play for the University of Southern California. In his debut year, he competed as a backup quarterback for Kedon Slovis in 2021. At the Annual Spring Game, he also impressed his coaches with his arm strength and mobility. He tossed a touchdown throw to a freshman named Michael Jackson III, who made an incredible one-handed diving catch, during a game.
