He is an English actor and producer. Cleese enjoyed great success with his Fringe performances at the Edinburgh Festival.
In the 1960s, Cleese was a part of the comedy ensemble Monty Python, which created “Monty Python’s Flying Circus.” His acting credits include “The Meaning of Life,” “Life of Brian,” and Mynton Python and the Holy Grail.
Cleese met and worked with Graham Chapman early in his playwriting career. His traveling revue helped him get to New York. In addition to beginning to act in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, he was offered the chance to write for BBC Radio.
He was employed by both “The Dick Emery Show” and “I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again.” He first appeared on humorous television as a result of working on “The First Report,” when he got to know Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Eric Idle.
