On May 11, 2022, June Preston, a well-known child performer, passed away at the age of 93. Preston passed away in a Montclair, New Jersey care home after a protracted battle with dementia.

Her daughter Sabrina Pires confirmed the information to The Hollywood Reporter. At Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, her funeral will be held in privacy.

June Preston, who was born on December 29, 1928, made her feature film début in 1934’s Anne of Green Gables for R.K.O. Pictures. Unexpectedly successful and among R.K.O.’s highest-grossing movies that year, the picture was a success.

Her secondary school inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 1989. June appeared in Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore in 1947 while studying music at Seattle University. She started a singing journey in Mexico in 1950 and made a stop in Guadalajara at the Degollado Theater.

She traveled in the summer of 1952 with a group headed by Argentine opera businessman Gregorio Ravic.

She spent two seasons in the chorus of the San Francisco Opera before starting a Caribbean tour and conducting a few performances in February of the same year. Preston traveled to Roatan, Honduras, to perform with pianist Manuel Rueda from the Dominican Republic.

She played as a soloist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis in November 1961 during the final movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. In October 1962, she played at Op Gouden Wieken, and the following month, at the Palau de la Musica Catalana. She also made an appearance in Tarragona in December 1962.
